This year, our chosen charity is BEEP (Business Empowering Employment Programme), for whom our Founder, Kim, is an Ambassador.
BEEP is a positive life-changing experience for young people struggling to step on to the work ladder, with ongoing support from trained mentors as the young people transition to work. The programme includes a comprehensive two-week course focusing on building each young person's confidence, self-esteem and motivation, along with developing their skills and their own action plan, helping them to find and secure new opportunities in life. BEEP has changed the life chances of 93% of participants for the better.
Our target this year: £7,500
Our target is to raise £7,500 over the course of the next 12 months to fully fund a programme for 12 young people. This might seem like a lot, but if those of us who regularly attend the Networking events could each raise £100 over 12 months, we will smash this target. Like BEEP, we believe every individual matter.
I'm Lynn Gillard of Michelmores LLP, and I am the Network's Fundraising Co-ordinator.
Welcome to our Charity of the Year page. The idea of having a Charity of the Year was brought about by Members during one of the PA Network's events. It originally started out as some of us maybe taking on a fun run to raise some much-needed funds for a local project. By the end of the evening, the idea had evolved into the Network having a Charity of the Year so, throughout the year, at our meetings and workplaces, we could all participate and do our bit to help!
Having a Charity of the Year will not only benefit the Charity in terms of our fundraising efforts, but our support will hopefully raise awareness of the good work our local charities do, and will also raise awareness of the PA Network within the community.
How can we participate?
It doesn't matter if you are not an athlete or a daredevil, there are hundreds of activities or ways to raise money; from simple raffle sales, cake sales, dress down days, walks - and for the more adventurous, runs or sky dives!
One of the simplest forms of fundraising is by joining one of the many giving websites. If you shop (and, come on, let's face it, we women are good at this!) you can register through Easy Fundraising. Each time you shop online via their portal, they make a % donation to our fundraising account. This can be from any one of over 3000 suppliers, from John Lewis, Amazon to Rail Network, so why not register your company/yourself and, when you purchase your office stationery, travel tickets, or even a new dress, you're raising more money. Check out the website - it's very easy to do and can be done from the comfort of our own swivel chairs - no training needed! You can even register your credit and debit cards with the site and raise extra donations when you shop in-store too. Click here to go to our own website page giving more details of how to use Easyfundraising.
If you have any ideas for ways to raise these funds, then please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and together we can come up with a plan to make this year a successful fundraising year.
