Learning & Development
Learning and Development
The only one of its kind in Exeter, the Network offers exceptional learning and development opportunities at a very low cost to PAs, EAs, Secretaries and Administrators across Exeter and surrounding areas, filling the gap created by recession led budget cuts. This is delivered through a mix of evening and breakfast events. In previous years there have also been weekend events, and the hope is to deliver a full day conference here in the South West.
Formal development sessions are designed to upskill PAs, recognising how roles have changed for many over recent years to include HR, Finance, Line Management and Project Management responsibilities. Topics covered at previous events have included: Social Media Strategies for Business, Gen Y Workforce, Technology, Finance for Non-Financial Managers, Behavioural Styles, as well as Performance Reviews & Development Planning.
The theme for development events in 2016 was Brand – personal brand, and online brand.
The Network worked alongside Bristol and Cardiff PA Networks to deliver an inaugral joint network full day development conference, which was so successful the Networks have come together again to deliver a second conference in October 2017.
Check out the Events section for more details.
The group’s breakfast meetings have speakers from the local business community, aimed at developing our members’ awareness of businesses they and their organisations could work with, as well as developments and challenges in the market. Topics have included Mindfulness, Coaching, Exeter Pound, #DevonHour, Conservation work at Paignton Zoo, the superfast broadband roll out initiative ‘Get Up To Speed’, as well as How to Turn Failure into Success.
Our Events section contains details of future topics.
Check out the vlog made by one of speakers – Alastair Banks of Optix Solutions – where he talks of his experience of meeting the Network and speaking at our breakfast event.
